Overview

What the ID-DKL-1986 keypad cam lock does

The ID-DKL-1986 replaces a keyed cam lock with a small keypad unit. The user enters a numeric password on the 12-button keypad, turns the built-in knob, and the cam swings clear of the frame so the door or drawer opens. Turning the knob back locks it again. Nobody has to carry a key, and you no longer need a spare-key board or new locks every time staff change.

This is a password-only lock with no RFID reader. It suits furniture where each user simply needs a code. If staff or members should open lockers with an ID card or wristband, choose one of the card-operated models in RFID locks.

Fitting it to your cabinet

The lock is built around the standard 18 mm cam-lock hole used on most steel lockers, mailboxes and office furniture, so it can usually go into the hole left by the old cylinder. Check three things before ordering:

  • Hole size: the cutout should be 18 mm, matching the lock’s thread diameter.
  • Cam length: a 20 mm or 30 mm cam plate is supplied. Measure from the lock centre to the point where the cam must catch the frame.
  • Space on the door face: the body is 112 × 39 × 15 mm, so it fits narrow stiles and drawer fronts.

Power and daily use

A single CR2450 button cell, already fitted when it arrives, powers the keypad. When the cell runs low, the lock sounds a reminder so it can be changed in time. Red and green LEDs show whether a code was accepted. There is no wiring, so you can convert a whole bank of lockers or a row of society mailboxes without an electrician.

Where it fits best

Typical uses are office pedestals and file cabinets, parcel and mailbox banks in housing societies, staff lockers in shops and clinics, and storage compartments in caravans and boats. In gyms and spas, where lockers change hands on every visit, card or wristband locks are often easier to run. The RFID locker lock price guide compares the options.

Frequently asked questions

Does the ID-DKL-1986 open with an RFID card?
No. It is a password-only keypad lock with no card reader. If you need card or wristband access, choose a card-operated lock such as the ID-DCL-G100 keypad and RFID cabinet lock.
How do I set or change the password?
Use the 12-button keypad with its C (clear) and OK keys. You set the password yourself and can change it whenever you like, with no software or tools. The user manual in the box gives the exact key sequence.
Will it fit my existing cabinet or mailbox?
It fits a standard 18 mm cam-lock cutout. Check that your hole is 18 mm, that a 20 mm or 30 mm cam reaches the frame, and that the door face has room for the 112 × 39 mm body.
What battery does it use?
One CR2450 button cell, already fitted in the lock. The lock sounds a low-voltage reminder before the cell runs out, so you can replace it in time.
Can I order these for a whole bank of lockers?
Yes. Add the quantity to your quote list, or send us the number of doors and the door type, and we will quote for the full set.
