Overview

What the ULEDKX100 UHF LED label does

A normal UHF label tells the reader that an item is somewhere in range. An LED label also shows you which one it is. When the reader finds the label you are looking for, its LED lights up, so a librarian or records clerk can walk along a rack and spot the right file or book instead of checking spines one by one.

Built for files, libraries and cables

  • Record rooms: find one file among shelves of near-identical folders.
  • Libraries: locate a requested or misplaced book during stock checks.
  • Cable management: identify a single cable in a bundle or at a patch panel.

The face is printable, so a title, file number or barcode can sit alongside the LED for anyone still checking by eye.

Readers and software

Read range is 1–15 m depending on the reader. How the LED is triggered depends on the reader software, so confirm that your handheld or fixed reader and its app support LED tags before rollout; a UHF handheld reader is the natural tool for walk-and-find searches. For a complete file-room set-up, see our RFID file tracking systems and the guide to record room tracking.

Frequently asked questions

How does the LED on this label light up?
The LED lights up when the reader reads the label. Picking out one specific label among many depends on the reader software selecting that tag, so check that your reader and its app support LED tags before rollout.
What read range does the ULEDKX100 have?
1–15 m, depending on the reader and antenna used. Finding a single item usually happens at closer range with a handheld reader, while inventory sweeps can use more of that distance.
Can I print on the label?
Yes. The face is printable, so you can add a title, file number or barcode. LED labels are thicker where the LED sits, so test a sample on your printer before a large print run.
Can I write my own data to the label?
Yes. The memory is readable and writable, so you can encode your own file or asset numbers. The UID is fixed and cannot be rewritten. Custom chip options and pre-encoding are available on bulk orders.
What conditions can the label handle?
It works from −40 °C to +85 °C, and the chip is rated for 100,000 programming cycles with 10 years of data retention. Every label is tested before supply.
