Overview
J41 micro UHF RFID tag for very small items
Some items have no room for a 50 mm label: a populated circuit board, a sample vial, a jewellery ticket or a component sealed inside a product. The J41 is a micro UHF RFID inlay made for these cases. It follows EPC Class 1 Gen 2, responds across 860–960 MHz, which covers India's 865–868 MHz band, and reads at up to 5 m in open air with a standard UHF reader.
What to expect from a tag this small
UHF read range drops as the antenna gets smaller, so plan the read point around the item rather than the maximum figure. Micro tags are usually read at close range with a handheld or desktop reader, or inside a tray or box antenna. The J41 is rated for 100,000 write cycles and 10 years of data retention, so the EPC can be rewritten as an item goes through rework or reuse.
Where the J41 is used
- PCBs and electronics: identify boards through assembly, testing and repair, placing the tag away from large copper areas.
- Labs and clinics: specimen containers and small kits that need an ID without a bulky label.
- Jewellery: fitted to tickets or trays for showroom stock counts.
- Embedded tracking: placed inside a product housing or pack during manufacture.
Metal items need a different tag
A standard inlay detunes on metal, so bare-metal tools, surgical instruments and machined parts need an on-metal design such as the IDTS-0603 micro on-metal tag. For larger labels and other small inlays, browse UHF RFID inlays & labels.
Typical applications
- PCBs and electronics
- Specimen containers
- Jewellery tickets
- Embedded product tracking
- Dense small-item tagging
