Overview

Eco UHF RFID paper tag for printed swing tickets and price tags

This eco tag (model ID-1642) has a printable paper face, for brands that want RFID on every item while cutting plastic out of their tags and trims. It runs through a standard UHF RFID label printer, so the swing ticket, price tag or carton label is printed and encoded in one step. The H10 chip reads at up to 7 m depending on the reader antenna and surroundings, which covers shop-floor counts with a handheld and a fixed reader at the stockroom door.

Printing and encoding

  1. Design the face. Barcode, price, article code and logo, as on any paper ticket.
  2. Encode the EPC. Use GS1 SGTIN-96 if the goods sell through organised retail; see the SGTIN-96 encoding guide.
  3. Test on the product. Read a printed sample on the actual item before committing to a full run.

Handling paper tags

Store rolls away from damp and never fold the tag through the antenna area. Keep it clear of foil bags, metallic trims and liquid-filled products, which shorten range; on a garment with metal buttons, hang it on the fabric side. Need a printer for in-house runs? See our RFID printers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the eco RFID paper tag used for?
Swing tickets, price tags and carton labels in retail and inventory work, where a paper face is preferred to a plastic one. It reads at up to 7 m depending on the reader and environment.
Can it be printed and encoded on a normal RFID printer?
Yes. It works with standard UHF RFID label printers, so barcodes, prices and logos are printed while the EPC is written in the same pass. Labels can also be supplied pre-printed and pre-encoded on request.
Is a paper tag as durable as a film label?
Paper resists moisture and abrasion less than plastic film, so it suits dry indoor uses such as tickets, price tags and cartons rather than outdoor or wet conditions.
Will it work on metal or liquid-filled products?
No. Metal and liquids detune the antenna. For metal assets use an on-metal UHF tag; for bottles, place the tag on the outer pack or neck tag.
