Overview
Alien ALN-9654 UHF wet inlay: what you get
The ALN-9654 is Alien's 96.5 × 23.2 mm UHF inlay, supplied here as a wet inlay: adhesive on the back, on a release liner, without a printed face. It can go straight onto a carton or plastic asset, or into a converter's line to become a printed label or hang tag.
Why the Higgs-3 memory matters
Many low-cost inlays carry little more than an EPC number. The Higgs-3 chip adds 512 bits of user memory that can be perma-locked or protected by a read password in 64-bit blocks, so a part number, owner code or calibration date can travel on the tag itself. The factory-programmed 64-bit serial cannot be changed, which helps tell a genuine tag from a copied one.
The chip supports all mandatory and optional Gen 2 commands, plus custom commands for high-speed programming on encoding lines.
Using it for asset and tool tracking
The wider 23.2 mm antenna suits asset labels, tool crates and returnable containers. Encode it with a UHF desktop reader, or with an RFID printer once it is converted into a label. Apply it above +25 °F. Like any standard inlay it will not read reliably on bare metal or against liquid, so use an on-metal RFID tag for steel tools and equipment. The fixed asset audit guide shows how tags, readers and software fit together.
Typical applications
- Asset tracking
- Tool tracking
- RFID label converting
- Returnable container tags
