Overview
Why two-wheelers need their own RFID tag
Car tags sit flat behind a large windscreen. Motorcycles and scooters rarely have one: at most a small visor or a curved headlight fairing that takes rain, dust and direct sun. The 2WL is a thin, flexible UHF sticker made for that spot. It follows the curve of the fairing, and its IP66 rating and −30 °C to +85 °C operating range cover open-air riding through Indian summers and monsoons.
Fitting the tag
- Clean. Wipe the fairing or visor with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.
- Apply. Peel the release liner and press the tag down firmly, facing outward.
- Cure. Wait 24 hours before washing the vehicle so the acrylic adhesive bonds fully.
Reading two-wheelers at the gate
Expect reads at 1–4 m. Bikes pass lower than cars and often off-centre, so aim the reader antenna at headlight height on the entry side and keep the two-wheeler lane narrow so each bike passes within range. A UHF reader with a built-in antenna from our integrated readers range keeps the lane simple to install.
The 2WL is a private access tag for your own gates and parking. It is not a FASTag and cannot be used for toll payment. Read more in our vehicle RFID guide.
