Overview
What the 107SL UHF RFID desktop reader does
The 107SL (IDTS-107UDR) is a desktop UHF RFID reader-writer with RS232 and RJ45 Ethernet connections. The RJ45 port lets it sit on the office LAN, and RS232 connects it to a POS terminal, PLC or industrial PC. Wi-Fi is available as an option.
It is built for the work done before tags go into service: registering and activating tags, reading and writing their data, quickly authenticating a tagged item, and blocking or killing tags that should no longer respond.
Tag support and performance
- Reads and writes ISO 18000-6C (EPC Class 1 Gen2) and ISO 18000-6B tags.
- Frequency hopping (FHSS) or fixed-frequency operation on 865–868 MHz; 902–928 MHz or a custom band on request.
- RF output adjustable from 0 to 30 dBm.
- Anti-collision algorithm for handling several tags in the field.
- Reading takes no more than 5 ms per 8 bytes; writing takes 25 ms per 4 bytes.
With the built-in 2.5 dBi circularly polarised antenna, read distance is up to 300 mm depending on the tag. Answer, active and trigger modes let the reader respond to host commands, read continuously, or read only when triggered.
Check your tags before ordering
The 107SL reads UHF tags only. It does not read 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz cards, HID, Cobra or similar access cards, or bank and credit cards, and it does not support iOS. If you plan to use cards you already have and are not sure of their type, contact us to confirm before you order.
Our guide to UHF, HF and LF frequencies explains how to tell the card types apart.
Software and integration
The reader comes with demonstration software and an SDK for building it into your own application, and the output format and parameters can be configured. The compact housing is rated IP40 for indoor use, and the product documentation lists CE and FCC compliance. To see how reader data reaches an ERP or WMS, read our RFID software and middleware guide.
Typical applications
- Tag registration and activation
- Item authentication
