Overview
What the UDR-111 UHF RFID desktop reader is for
The UDR-111 (model IDTS-111UDR) is a compact USB reader-writer for working with UHF tags at a single PC. It takes both power and data from the USB port, measures 110 × 70 × 15 mm and weighs 150 g, so it fits beside a keyboard at an issuing desk, a goods-inward counter or a bench where tag samples are tested before a rollout.
It operates on 865–868 MHz, the UHF RFID band used in India, and reads and writes EPC Gen2 (ISO 18000-6C) tags.
Two ways to use it
Active mode: keyboard emulation
The reader acts as a USB keyboard. Present a tag and its number is typed into Excel, a web form or an ERP screen, wherever the cursor is. No programming is needed.
Answer mode: read and write
Software sends commands and the reader responds. Use the free demonstration software to read and write tags, or the SDK to build reading and encoding into your own application.
For the keyboard-mode workflow, see how to scan RFID tags into Excel.
Setting the read range
Read distance is 0–50 cm depending on the tag, and RF output can be set anywhere from 0 to 20 dBm. For encoding, turn the power down so only the tag on the reader is written; for checking a small bundle of labels, turn it up. The reading rate is programmable in software, and a buzzer and LED confirm each read.
Build and environment
The housing is zinc alloy and acrylic, rated IP40, which suits indoor desks. It works from -20 °C to +60 °C at up to 80% non-condensing humidity.
Choosing a desktop reader
The UDR-111 is the straightforward choice for tag reading, testing and encoding at one PC. If you need to encode a long list from a spreadsheet, the 120L reader includes Excel import software; for a reader on the office network, look at the Wi-Fi 107W.
Typical applications
- Tag encoding desks
- Card issuing counters
- Goods-inward verification
- Tag testing and sampling
- Billing counters
