Overview

What the ID-6612-G2 tamper-evident jewellery label does

The ID-6612-G2 gives each piece of jewellery its own UHF RFID identity on a narrow 66 × 12 mm label. Its tamper-evident construction means it is not meant to come off cleanly: if the label is lifted after application, the damage is visible. That protects the link between a piece and its record in your inventory software, which matters most when stock is counted against the books, as in hallmarking-linked stock control.

Printing and encoding in-house

The label works with standard UHF RFID readers and RFID label printers. A back office can print the ticket text and write the item code into the 128-bit EPC memory of the NXP G2iM+ chip in one pass, then verify each label on a reader before it goes to the counter. Encoding in one place also makes it easier to avoid duplicate numbers across branches.

Choosing the 66 × 12 mm format

A long, narrow label suits slim tickets and small boxes where a square label would overhang, and the thin, flexible substrate follows gently curved surfaces. For other jewellery label formats, or reusable hard tags that come off at billing, compare the rest of the RFID jewellery tag range.

Uses outside jewellery

The same strip is used for retail items, warehouse logistics, manufacturing and field assets where a narrow tag fits better than a wide one. It responds across 860–960 MHz, covering India's licence-exempt 865–868 MHz band, and reads up to 7 m depending on reader, antenna and environment. Keep it off bare metal, which detunes UHF labels.

Typical applications

  • Jewellery inventory
  • Branch stock audits
  • Retail item tagging
  • Warehouse logistics
  • Manufacturing inventory
  • Field asset tracking

Frequently asked questions

How is a tamper-evident RFID label different from a normal UHF label?
It is read in the same way by any UHF reader. The difference is the construction: once applied, a tamper-evident label is designed to show visible damage if someone peels it off, so a moved or reused tag stands out at the next audit. Position it correctly the first time, because it is not meant to be repositioned.
Can I print and encode the ID-6612-G2 myself?
Yes. It works with standard UHF RFID label printers, which can print the ticket text and write the 128-bit EPC in a single pass. If you would rather receive labels already printed or encoded, mention your numbering format when you request a quote.
Which reader should I use to count jewellery tagged with this label?
Any EPC Gen2 UHF reader working in India's 865–868 MHz band. A desktop reader suits the encoding desk and billing counter, while UHF handheld readers are used for tray, showcase and locker counts.
Will it read if stuck directly on a gold or silver piece?
Not reliably. UHF labels detune when pressed flat against metal, so apply the label to the ticket, tag or box rather than to the ornament itself.
