UHF + NFC Dual-Frequency RFID Inlay ID-4020-EM4425 (40 × 20 mm)

A 40 × 20 mm inlay on the EM4425 chip that answers both UHF RFID readers and NFC smartphones, so one tag serves supply-chain reads and tap-to-verify checks by customers or staff.

Overview

One UHF + NFC dual RFID inlay for the warehouse and the phone

The ID-4020-EM4425 is a 40 × 20 mm inlay built on the EM4425 chip, which has two radio interfaces. The UHF side works with standard EPC Gen2 readers across 860–960 MHz, including India's 865–868 MHz band. The NFC side works at 13.56 MHz, so an NFC-enabled smartphone can read the same tag with a tap. One tag can then be counted in the supply chain and checked by a customer or field staff without a dedicated reader.

Plan for close-range reading

The listed read range is up to 0.5 m. Treat it as a close-range tag: UHF reads at a packing table, desktop reader or handheld held near the item, and NFC at tap distance. For long-range dock-door or portal reading, choose a standard UHF label from our UHF RFID inlays and labels range.

Where a dual inlay is useful

  • Product authentication: the brand checks goods by UHF in the warehouse, and the buyer taps the pack with a phone to verify it.
  • Packaging engagement: the NFC side can be set up to open a product page, user manual or registration form.
  • Service and returns counters: staff confirm an item's identity with a phone instead of a UHF reader.

Frequently asked questions

Can a smartphone read this inlay?
Yes, through the NFC interface: NFC-enabled phones read it at tap distance. Phones cannot read the UHF side on their own; that needs a UHF reader, a handheld or a phone sled.
What is the read range?
The listed read range is up to 0.5 m, depending on the reader and antenna. NFC is read at a few centimetres. Use this inlay for close-range verification rather than long-range portal reading.
Why use one dual inlay instead of separate UHF and NFC tags?
Both interfaces sit on the same EM4425 chip, so there is one tag to apply per item, and the UHF EPC and the NFC data belong to the same physical tag, which makes it simple to link both to one item record.
Which UHF reader works with it?
Any reader that supports EPC Class 1 Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C in the 865–868 MHz band. Given the short listed range, a desktop reader or a handheld used close to the item is the practical choice.
