Overview

Removable UHF RFID label for returnable and rented items

Most RFID labels are applied once and discarded with the packaging. The ID-4216-U9 is made to be peeled off and stuck on again, so one tag can follow a returnable crate, move to a replacement asset, or be reused through several rounds of a pilot. It reads from up to 6 m depending on the reader and environment.

Good fits

  • Plastic crates, totes and bins that circulate between your site and suppliers
  • Rental and loan equipment that is re-tagged for each job
  • Display stock and samples that should not carry a permanent sticker
  • Proof-of-concept trials where tag positions are still being tested

Getting the most reuse

Press the label onto a clean, dry, smooth panel; dust, oil and heavily textured plastic weaken the grip. When moving it, peel slowly from one corner so the inlay inside is not creased, because a cracked antenna stops reading. Each time a tag changes item, update the link between its EPC and the item in your software. Steel cages and drums need a plastic holder or an on-metal tag. For crate and jar pools, see the reusable packaging guide.

Typical applications

  • Returnable crates and totes
  • Rental equipment
  • Display and loan stock
  • RFID pilot trials
  • Seasonal stock

Frequently asked questions

Can the ID-4216-U9 really be removed and reused?
Yes. It is a removable, reusable label, so it can be lifted from one item and applied to another instead of being thrown away after one use.
How many times can it be reused?
No fixed number is specified. Grip depends on the surface, dust and how carefully the label is peeled. Trial a few cycles on your own crates or equipment before standardising.
What read range does it give?
Up to 6 m with a suitable reader and antenna. Range drops near metal and liquids, and a label that has been creased while peeling may read poorly or not at all.
Does the tag keep its number after it is moved?
Yes. The EPC stays on the chip when the label is peeled and re-applied. Update your software so the number points to the new item, or re-encode the tag with a UHF reader.
