What the IDTS-UAR audio jack UHF reader does
The IDTS-UAR is a 42 × 48 mm mini UHF RFID reader that plugs into a phone's 3.5 mm headphone socket. The phone runs the app and shows the result; the reader handles the radio side. It was designed to make UHF reading cheap and portable enough for everyday field work, where carrying a full handheld terminal would be overkill.
Check your phone first
Because the reader talks to the phone through the audio jack, the handset must have a 3.5 mm headphone socket, and many recent phones no longer do. If your team's phones only have a USB-C port, the UCR10 Type-C portable reader is the closer fit. Short range by design
With a read distance of up to 50 cm, depending on tag size, the UAR is for checking a tag you can point at, not for counting a shelf from across the aisle. That suits spot checks, verification rounds and survey work: confirm an asset tag, read its EPC or user memory, and move on.
One charge gives about 3 hours of continuous work or more than 30,000 reads, and a full recharge over USB (5 V, 0.5 A) takes about 2 hours. The housing is ABS and PC engineering plastic, and the reader's working temperature range is −20 to +60 °C.
