Overview

What the 60 × 25 mm on-metal RFID label is for

Ordinary paper UHF labels stop reading once they are stuck on steel. The ID-60X25 is an on-metal UHF label: apply it straight onto a machine, mould or metal bin and it still reads, at up to 6 m in good conditions. At 60 × 25 mm it is a middle size in our flexible on-metal range, large enough to print an asset number and a barcode legibly and small enough for a machine bezel, a die block or a tool trolley.

Where it fits on the shop floor

  • Moulds, dies and fixtures in plastics, forging and press shops
  • Machines and panels on a preventive-maintenance round
  • Machined parts and sub-assemblies moving between stations
  • Gauges and instruments due for calibration

Our manufacturing WIP tracking guide explains how these reads feed a production system.

Fitting and reading tips

Choose a flat patch away from weld beads, paint blisters and swarf, and clean it with isopropyl alcohol before applying. On machines, place the label above the coolant splash line and out of easy reach of hands. When reading a rack of tagged parts, lower the reader power and scan item by item so neighbouring parts do not answer as well.

Need a different size?

For narrow edges or a bigger asset plate, compare the other formats in our on-metal RFID tags range.

Typical applications

  • Machine identification
  • Mould and die registers
  • Work-in-progress tracking
  • Gauges and calibration assets
  • Tool trolleys
  • Metal bins and kanban containers

Frequently asked questions

Will the ID-60X25 read when stuck directly on steel?
Yes. It is an on-metal UHF label, designed to be applied directly to metal, where ordinary paper UHF labels do not read reliably. Its thin, flexible substrate suits flat plate and gently curved surfaces.
What read range should I expect from the 60 × 25 mm label?
Up to 6 m. The distance you actually get depends on the reader and antenna, how the label faces the antenna and the metal around it, so test on a few of your own assets before a large rollout.
Can I print asset numbers and barcodes on it?
Yes. The face is printable on a UHF RFID label printer, which prints the text and barcode and encodes the chip in one pass. Labels can also be ordered pre-printed and pre-encoded; share your numbering scheme when you request a quote.
Which readers work with it in India?
Any EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C UHF reader operating in India’s licence-exempt 865–868 MHz band. The label covers 860–960 MHz, which includes that band.
