Overview

Slim on-metal RFID label for racking and shelf rails

The ID-5015-U8 is shaped for surfaces that are long but short in height. Its 15 mm height fits within the front rail of steel pallet racking, a shelf edge or a cabinet nameplate area, while the 50 mm length gives the antenna room to reach 2–4 m when bonded directly to steel or aluminium.

Location tagging in the warehouse

Rack-rail labels turn each bay or level into a readable location. A vehicle-mounted reader on a forklift, or an operator with a handheld, reads the location label together with the pallet tag, so the WMS records where stock was put away without a separate barcode scan. The warehouse RFID implementation guide shows how location tags fit into a rollout.

Other narrow metal surfaces

  • Top edges of filing cabinets and lockers, without protruding
  • Steel cable trays and trunking
  • Side uprights of roll cages and metal pallets
  • Slim stainless-steel instrument trays

The strip leaves enough print area for a 1D or 2D barcode and an asset number, and it comes on rolls for print-and-apply lines using a UHF RFID printer.

Typical applications

  • Rack location tags
  • Shelf edges
  • Filing cabinets and lockers
  • Cable trays and trunking
  • Roll cages and pallets
  • Instrument trays

Frequently asked questions

What read range does the ID-5015-U8 give on steel?
2–4 m when bonded directly to steel or aluminium. The 50 mm antenna length gives good range for such a slim strip; the actual distance depends on the reader, antenna and surrounding metal.
Where does a 50 × 15 mm on-metal label fit best?
On long, narrow surfaces where a wider label will not fit: the front rail of pallet racking, shelf edges, nameplates, cabinet frames and roll-cage uprights.
Does it work with RFID readers used in India?
Yes. It operates at 865–868 MHz, India’s licence-exempt UHF band, and follows EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C, so standard UHF fixed, vehicle-mounted and handheld readers can read it.
Can it run on a print-and-apply line?
Yes. It is available on rolls, and the printable PET face takes a 1D or 2D barcode plus an asset number while the EPC is encoded.
