Overview
What the HLR200 UHF RFID gate reader does
The HLR200 is a gate-type UHF RFID reader. Tagged items, people or vehicles are detected as they pass through the gate, with nobody scanning anything. It reads multiple tags at once at up to 4 m, so a trolley of cartons, an armful of library books or a group of staff with badges registers in a single pass.
Direction sensing and alarms
A plain RFID reader only knows that a tag was nearby. The HLR200 has built-in two-way direction sensors that detect whether movement is in or out, so your records show an entry or an exit, not just a read. When an unauthorised tag passes through, the built-in LED, buzzer and industrial alarm alert staff on the spot.
Where the gate is used
- Warehouses and logistics: record stock and returnable assets leaving or entering a bay.
- Asset management: flag tagged laptops, tools or equipment leaving a building unrecorded.
- Libraries: catch books that have not been issued at the exit.
- Retail security: raise an alarm on tagged goods leaving the store unpaid.
- Access control: log staff and vehicle movement through an entrance.
Choosing tags for the gate
The 4 m figure is a maximum. Real range depends on the tag, its orientation and what the tagged item is made of. Use UHF labels and inlays for cartons, files and books, on-metal RFID tags for tools and IT equipment, and UHF cards or wristbands for people.
Installation and integration
Gates work best at a natural choke point, such as a doorway, dock entrance or store exit, where everything passes within read range. Metal shutters, racking and other nearby readers can affect UHF fields, so test the position with your actual tagged items before fixing it. A gate is usually connected to inventory, library or asset software that decides which tags may leave, so tell us which software the gate must report to when you order.
