Overview

Plain 125 kHz LF RFID cards for attendance and access

These are passive, white PVC proximity cards in standard smart-card size, working at 125 kHz. There is no battery: the card draws power from the reader’s field when held close, and the reader passes the card’s ID to your attendance or access software.

Check your reader first

An LF card only works with an LF reader. If your attendance machine or door controller already reads 125 kHz cards, these can be added to the same system. They will not read on 13.56 MHz MIFARE or NFC readers, or on UHF readers. If you are moving from LF to HF over time, a dual-frequency LF-HF card works on both during the changeover.

Where they are used

  • Employee attendance at offices, factories and warehouses
  • Door access for offices, labs and server rooms
  • Visitor and contractor passes that are reissued daily
  • Student and hostel ID in schools and colleges

Plain or printed

This listing is the plain white card, the usual base for photo ID cards printed in-house on a PVC card printer. If you want cards supplied ready-printed with your logo, name and photo, see the printed RFID ID card. The RFID attendance guide covers readers and software.

Typical applications

  • Staff attendance
  • Door access control

Frequently asked questions

What is a 125 kHz LF RFID card?
It is a passive white PVC proximity card in the standard smart-card shape. Low-frequency RFID works at 125 kHz and is read by holding the card close to the reader, which is why these cards are common in attendance, access control and visitor systems.
Will 125 kHz LF cards work with my 13.56 MHz reader?
No. A 125 kHz card cannot be read by a 13.56 MHz HF or NFC reader, because the two use different frequencies and protocols. Check which frequency your installed readers use before ordering, or use a dual-frequency card if you are migrating between systems.
Which chip does the LF card use?
This listing specifies the frequency, 125 kHz, rather than a chip. Many LF attendance and door systems read EM4100-format IDs, so give us your reader brand and model, or the chip name from an existing card, when you request a quote.
Can the cards be printed with our logo?
This is the plain white card, which is normally printed in-house on a PVC card printer. If you want cards delivered already printed with your logo, names and photos, order the Printed RFID ID Card instead.
