Overview

What the IDTS-RA5134 5 dBi UHF RFID panel antenna is for

The RA5134 is a small, low-gain panel for reading zones that need to be wide rather than long. Its 100° beam in both planes spreads the reader's field across a broad area in front of the antenna, which suits a shelf bay, a store aisle, a file-room door or a reception desk better than a long-distance dock read.

It covers the full 860–940 MHz range, so the same antenna works with readers set to India's 865–868 MHz band and with readers set to the US, EU or Chinese 920–925 MHz bands. Integrators who build one installation for several countries can standardise on a single antenna part.

Why 5 dBi and a wide beam

Antenna gain trades width for reach. Higher-gain panels push the field further in a narrower cone; a 5 dBi panel gives a shorter, broader zone that is easier to keep inside one room or one fixture. Circular polarisation means hand-placed items such as garments, files and cartons are read in most orientations, and the low VSWR of ≤1.3 keeps reflected power down.

Installation notes

  • Size and mounting: 134 × 134 × 21 mm and 110 g, light enough to fix on a wall, a shelf back or the side of a cabinet.
  • Connector: SMA male on a side-exit cable. Use an RF cable with the matching connector for your reader's antenna port, and keep the run short, because every metre of coax costs some read range.
  • Indoor use: the white ABS radome is intended for clean indoor spaces. For rain, dust or wash-down areas, choose a sealed antenna such as the IP67 IDTS-RA6133.
  • Protection: DC-ground lightning protection and a 50 W maximum input rating.

Choosing the right antenna

Pick the RA5134 when the zone is close and wide. If tags must be read further away, or one doorway must be kept separate from the next, a higher-gain, narrower-beam panel is the better fit. Our RFID antenna guide explains how gain, beam width and polarisation shape a read zone, and every model is listed under RFID antennas.

Typical applications

  • Indoor inventory zones
  • Retail store aisles
  • Access control points
  • Warehouse shelving
  • Multi-country deployments

Frequently asked questions

Does the IDTS-RA5134 work with readers on India's 865–868 MHz band?
Yes. Its 860–940 MHz range includes 865–868 MHz, the licence-exempt UHF RFID band in India under G.S.R. 853(E), 2021. The same antenna also covers the US, EU and Chinese 920–925 MHz UHF bands, so only the reader setting changes between countries.
How far will the RA5134 read?
Read range depends on the reader's output power, the tag, the cable length and the surface the tag is on, so there is no single figure. As a 5 dBi antenna with a 100° beam it is designed for wide, short-to-medium zones; for longer reach, choose a higher-gain panel.
What connector does it have?
An SMA male connector on a side-exit cable. Order an RF cable with the matching connector for your reader's antenna port, and keep the run as short as practical.
Can the RA5134 be installed outdoors?
No IP rating is specified for the RA5134 and its white ABS radome is intended for indoor installations. For outdoor or wet reading points, use the IP67 IDTS-RA6133.
How many RA5134 antennas can one reader run?
Each antenna uses one antenna port on the reader. A 4-port fixed reader can run up to four RA5134 panels, for example one per shelf bay or doorway.
