Overview

Where the 80 × 40 mm on-metal RFID label fits

Choose the ID-UM8040 when the label also has to work as a visible nameplate. Its 80 × 40 mm face holds an asset number, barcode, owner name and logo in a type size that is easy to read, while the chip underneath lets a reader confirm the same item without line of sight. The flexible 1 mm body follows the curve of drums, cylinders and machine covers, and the self-adhesive backing bonds directly to the metal.

Good fits

  • Metal drums and containers that move between sites or customers
  • Cylinders and other curved vessels
  • Machine housings and equipment panels
  • Larger assets that staff identify by eye as well as by reader

Reading and printing

An Impinj Monza R6 / R6-P chip responds across 860–960 MHz, covering India's 865–868 MHz band, with a rated range of up to 7 m. A bigger label does not automatically read further on metal; placement and the reader matter more, so trial it on your own items. Print and encode on a UHF RFID printer that takes on-metal media, or order the labels pre-encoded. Smaller sizes are listed under on-metal RFID tags.

Typical applications

  • Metal drums
  • Metal container tracking
  • Cylinders
  • Machine housings
  • Equipment nameplates

Frequently asked questions

Can the ID-UM8040 go on curved metal such as drums and cylinders?
Yes. Its thin, flexible 1 mm substrate suits flat and curved metal surfaces such as drums, cylinders, panels and equipment housings. Apply it to a clean, dry surface for a good bond.
What read range does the 80 × 40 mm label give?
It is rated up to 7 m, depending on reader, antenna and environment, which is the same rating as the 60 × 25 mm ID-UM6025. Choose this size for its larger print area rather than for extra range.
Can it be printed with our logo and asset details?
Yes. It is printable on UHF RFID printers, and the chip is encoded in the same pass. You can also order them ready-printed with your logo and already encoded with your EPC numbers.
Which reader works with it?
Any EPC Gen2 UHF reader set to India's 865–868 MHz band: a handheld reader for walk-round counts, or a fixed reader with antennas at a gate or loading point.
