Overview

ID-UM6025 on-metal RFID label for IT and equipment assets

Paper and film RFID stickers detune on metal and stop reading. The ID-UM6025 is designed to go straight onto metal housings, and at 60 × 25 mm it fits the places IT and admin teams usually tag: a server or switch front panel, a UPS or rack cabinet, an instrument casing, a steel cupboard door. The face is large enough for a printed asset number and barcode, so one ID can be checked by eye, by barcode scanner or by RFID reader.

How it fits an asset audit

  1. Print and encode. A UHF RFID printer prints the asset number and barcode and writes the same number to the chip.
  2. Apply. Stick the label on a clean, dry metal surface; the flexible 1 mm body follows curved or uneven panels.
  3. Audit. Walk the site with a UHF handheld reader; tagged assets respond without being handled one by one.

Chip and read range

The Impinj Monza R6 / R6-P chip responds across 860–960 MHz, covering India's 865–868 MHz band, and the label is rated up to 7 m. On metal, the reader and the exact placement set the real distance, so trial a few assets before tagging a whole site. The fixed-asset audit guide covers planning and reconciliation; other sizes are under on-metal RFID tags.

Typical applications

  • IT asset tracking
  • Fixed asset audits
  • Equipment and devices
  • Metal pipes and racks
  • Automotive components

Frequently asked questions

What read range does the ID-UM6025 give on metal?
It is rated up to 7 m. The working distance depends on reader power, antenna, label orientation and the metal around it, so a handheld reader in a crowded rack reads shorter than a fixed reader in open space. Test a few labels on your own assets before a full rollout.
Can I print asset numbers and barcodes on this label?
Yes. It is a printable label for UHF RFID printers, which print the face and encode the chip in the same pass. Because on-metal labels are about 1 mm thick, check that your printer is set up for on-metal media. Labels can also be supplied pre-printed and pre-encoded with your asset or EPC numbers.
Will it stick to curved metal such as pipes?
Yes. The thin, flexible body follows curved and uneven surfaces, so it can go on pipes, racks and equipment panels. Clean and dry the surface first so the self-adhesive backing bonds well.
Which reader should I use with it?
Any EPC Gen2 UHF reader working in India's 865–868 MHz band. A UHF handheld reader suits walk-round audits; fixed readers suit doorways and checkpoints.
