Overview

A small UHF on-metal RFID label with an Impinj Monza R6 chip

The ID-UM3015 is one of the smallest labels in our on-metal RFID tags range: 30 × 15 mm and 1.25 mm thick. That footprint fits the underside of a laptop, the side of a server or network switch, a hand tool or an automotive component, places where a 60 mm label would overhang. It is flexible, so it also follows curved and uneven metal surfaces.

Chip and read performance

Inside is an Impinj Monza R6/R6-P chip working to EPC Class 1 Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C, rated for up to 7 m depending on the reader antenna and surroundings. Small assets on crowded shelves are usually read at close range anyway, so that only the item in front of the reader answers.

Printing, encoding and fitting

The face is printable on standard UHF RFID printers, so the asset number, barcode and chip data can be produced in one pass. Labels can also be supplied pre-encoded in bulk for a tagging rollout. Clean the surface, then press the self-adhesive label down firmly.

Frequently asked questions

Does the ID-UM3015 work when stuck directly on metal?
Yes. It is a 30 × 15 × 1.25 mm on-metal UHF RFID label designed for direct application on metal, where ordinary paper labels do not read reliably. Compact on-metal labels like this are used for IT asset, tool and machinery tracking.
What is the read range of the ID-UM3015?
Up to 7 m, depending on the reader, antenna and surroundings. It uses an Impinj Monza R6/R6-P chip and works across 860–960 MHz, which covers India’s licence-exempt 865–868 MHz UHF band.
How much memory does the chip have?
Monza R6 provides a 96-bit EPC; the R6-P variant supports an EPC of up to 128 bits. That is enough for a serialised asset number or a 96-bit GS1 EPC.
Can it be printed with asset numbers and barcodes?
Yes. It is printable and works with standard UHF RFID printers and readers, so asset numbers, barcodes and logos can be printed on the face while the chip is encoded. It can also be supplied pre-encoded in bulk for asset tagging rollouts.
