Overview
A 95 × 22 mm on-metal RFID label for long steel stock
Stock that is stacked and counted rather than shelved, such as beams, channels, tube bundles and extrusions, needs a label that is long rather than tall. The ID-95X22 gives a 95 mm print line for a batch or heat number, a barcode and a yard location, on a 22 mm high strip that fits the face of a section or the side of a bundle. It reads on metal at up to 6 m.
Typical uses
- Structural sections moving through a fabrication yard
- Bar and tube bundles in steel and pipe stockyards
- Aluminium extrusions and facade sections on project sites
- Cable trays, busbar trunking and long metal enclosures
Applying a long strip
A label this long needs a genuinely straight run of metal. Measure the section first, never fold the label around a corner, degrease the surface and bed it down end to end in one motion. Print the code and encode the chip in the same pass, and read from in front of the printed face rather than at a glancing angle along a stack. A UHF handheld reader is the usual tool for walking a stockyard.
For shorter beams and shelf edges, compare the 80 × 20 mm label and other sizes in our on-metal RFID tags range.
Typical applications
- Steel stockyards
- Structural sections and beams
- Tube and bar bundles
- Aluminium extrusions
- Cable trays and busbar trunking
- Ladders and site equipment
