Overview

Ultra-slim on-metal RFID label for dense IT racks

The ID-6006-U8 is the label to choose when nothing wider will fit. At 6 mm wide it can sit below the drive bay of a 1U server, along the side panel of a switch in a fully populated rack, or on the border of a PCB, without covering vents, indicator LEDs or ports. The 60 mm length carries the antenna and gives 1–2 m read range on metal.

What a 1–2 m range means in practice

This range suits close, deliberate reads: an engineer walking a data-centre aisle with a UHF handheld reader, a check at a repair bench, or a read point on a PCB line. It is not meant for reading across a room. Where there is space for a wider label, the on-metal RFID tag range has larger formats with longer range.

Where it is used

  • 1U and 2U server front panels and blade server chassis
  • Network switches and patch panels in full racks
  • PCB and electronics assembly, for board-level tracking through production and repair
  • Calibrated tools and gauges with narrow metal handles

The PET face can be printed with a short asset ID or serial number by fine-detail thermal transfer.

Typical applications

  • 1U and 2U servers
  • Network switches
  • Patch panels
  • Blade server chassis
  • PCB production tracking
  • Calibrated tools and gauges

Frequently asked questions

How slim is the ID-6006-U8 and where does it fit?
It measures 60 × 6 mm. At 6 mm wide it fits on a laptop edge, below a server bezel or along a PCB border without covering vents, LEDs or ports.
What read range does it give on metal?
1–2 m on metal surfaces. That suits handheld audits in racks and bench checks; for longer range on open surfaces, choose a wider on-metal label.
Which reader should I use with it?
A UHF handheld held close to the rack or bench works best given the 1–2 m range. The label follows EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C at 865–868 MHz, the band used for UHF RFID in India, so any Gen2 handheld or desktop reader on that band will read it.
Can anything be printed on a 6 mm label?
Yes, a short line such as an asset ID, department code or serial number, using fine-detail thermal transfer printing. Share your print layout when you ask for a quote so it can be checked against the label size.
