Overview
ID-L5012: slim sew-in UHF RFID laundry tag for uniforms and scrubs
The ID-L5012 is a 50 × 12 mm UHF RFID laundry tag made to be stitched in. At 12 mm wide it slips into a hem channel or along a side seam, which is where uniforms, hospital scrubs and patient gowns are usually tagged so the tag stays protected and out of the wearer's way. It uses the NXP UCODE 9xe chip and reads at up to 8 m, depending on the reader and environment.
Typical deployment
- Encode. Write an EPC to each tag on a UHF desktop reader and link it to the garment or wearer.
- Sew. Stitch the tag into the hem or seam, keeping the needle clear of the chip.
- Track. Count items in and out of the laundry with a handheld, tunnel or portal reader.

If you heat-press rather than sew, the ID-L5012-I is the iron-on version of this size. For heavier linen with more room, a wider tag such as the ID-L5815 (58 × 15 mm) gives more antenna area.
