Overview

Nylon UHF RFID laundry tag for hard-wearing garments

This 60 × 15 mm laundry tag uses an industrial nylon substrate instead of woven fabric, which makes it more flexible and more resistant to tearing. That suits garments that rub, flex and get handled roughly: coveralls, hi-vis jackets, chef whites and flame-resistant PPE. Inside is an Impinj Monza 4QT UHF chip, and the tag is rated for more than 200 industrial wash cycles at 95 °C.

Three ways to attach it

  • Sewn in – stitched into a side seam, hem or collar; the usual choice for uniforms.
  • Heat-sealed – pressed onto the fabric where stitching is not practical.
  • Riveted – a mechanical fixing for heavy workwear.

Reading it in a laundry

On a garment the tag reads at 1–3 m in India's 865–868 MHz UHF band. That is enough for a UHF handheld to count a rack or a bag, or for a fixed reader at a sorting table or issue counter to log items as they pass. Putting the tag in the same place on every garment of a type keeps counts consistent. To plan the whole set-up, see the RFID laundry and linen management guide, or compare other formats under laundry tags.

Typical applications

  • Industrial workwear
  • Hi-vis garments
  • Hotel staff uniforms
  • Restaurant uniforms
  • Government uniform pools
  • Flame-resistant PPE

Frequently asked questions

How many washes does the nylon laundry tag survive?
It is rated for more than 200 industrial wash cycles at 95 °C. The nylon body is flexible and tear-resistant, which helps on workwear and uniforms that see heavy abrasion.
What read range should I expect?
1–3 m when the tag is on a garment, in the 865–868 MHz band. Range depends on the reader, the antenna and how tightly items are packed; wet or densely stacked textiles read shorter.
How do I attach it to garments?
Sew it into a seam or hem, heat-seal it, or rivet it. Sewing is the usual choice for uniforms; riveting suits heavy workwear.
Which reader do I need?
Any EPC Gen2 UHF reader set to India's 865–868 MHz band. A UHF handheld reader suits counting racks and bags; a fixed reader suits a sorting table or issue point.
