Overview
What the ID-CL-01 RFID card cabinet lock does
The ID-CL-01 is a card-operated electronic lock for cabinet doors, staff-room cupboards and personal lockers. Instead of turning a key, the user holds an RFID card, wristband or key fob within 3 cm of the lock and the door releases on its own, with no handle needed. It runs on batteries, so no power cabling has to be run to the cabinet.
One card or two
Each lock can be set to open with a single card or to require two different cards. Single-card opening suits a teacher's or employee's own cabinet. Double-card opening suits storage that should only be opened with two people present, such as exam papers in a school staff room or confidential records in an office.
Where it is used
- Office cabinet doors and shared cupboards
- College and school staff rooms
- Personal lockers in hotels and sauna centres
- Gym and swimming pool lockers
The factory setting is private mode, where each lock answers only to its owner's credential. For day-use lockers you can switch to public mode, in which any valid credential locks any free locker and a red LED flashes every five seconds while it is occupied.
Choosing credentials
The card types listed for this lock are ID, MIFARE and TIMIC. ID and TIMIC are 125 kHz proximity types, while MIFARE works at 13.56 MHz, so tell us which card your staff already carry when you ask for a quote. For a new installation you can order matching LF cards or HF cards along with the locks.
Power and emergency opening
Four AA alkaline batteries supply 6 V, and a low-power Texas Instruments controller keeps standby draw at 5–10 µA. Below 4.8 V the red LED warns of low battery, with more than 50 openings still available, and the lock can be opened mechanically if the batteries go completely flat. For password entry as well as cards, see the ID-RP-02, or browse all RFID Locks.
Typical applications
- Office cabinet doors
- School staff rooms
