Overview

Passive UHF RFID temperature sensor label

The ID-SE-AS3213T applies like a slim 94 × 20 mm UHF label, but its AS3213T chip includes a temperature sensor. When a UHF reader interrogates the tag, it returns a temperature reading along with its ID. There is no battery: like any passive UHF tag, it runs on energy from the reader’s field, so there is nothing to charge or replace.

How buyers use it

  • Checking carton or tote temperature at receiving without opening the pack
  • Spot checks in cold rooms and pharma stores with a handheld reader
  • Condition checks on equipment where the reading at the time of the scan is what matters

A passive sensor label reports the temperature when it is read; without a battery it does not record between scans. For a stored history across a journey, see the NFC temperature logger label.

Reader and software

The tag follows EPC Class 1 Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C, so any UHF reader working in India’s 865–868 MHz band will read its 192-bit EPC. Reading the temperature value usually needs reader software that supports the sensor chip, so confirm this with your reader or middleware supplier first. Expect temperature reads to need a shorter distance than plain ID reads. Our cold chain monitoring guide and the RFID sensors range cover the alternatives.

Typical applications

  • Cold-chain cartons
  • Pharma storage
  • Food distribution
  • Cold room audits
  • Equipment condition checks

Frequently asked questions

Does this temperature sensor label need a battery?
No. It is a passive UHF tag powered by the reader’s RF field, so it is applied like a normal label and has no battery to replace.
What is its read range?
Up to 6 m is listed, depending on the reader, antenna and environment. Taking a temperature reading generally needs more power than reading the ID, so plan for a shorter distance when sensing and test in your own setup.
Can any UHF reader read the temperature?
Any EPC Gen2 reader can read the tag’s ID. Getting the temperature value needs reader firmware or software that supports the sensor chip, so check compatibility first or order a sample to test with your reader.
Does it keep a temperature history?
No. It reports the temperature at the moment it is read. If you need a record across a whole journey, look at the ID-SE-FM13DT160 NFC temperature logger label, which records data for later readout.
