Overview

A printed RFID windshield label that guards can read too

Most gates run two checks: the reader verifies the tag, and the guard glances at the windshield. This label serves both. The UHF chip is read at 1–5 m as the vehicle enters the lane, while the full-colour face shows a registration number, logo or colour code the guard can recognise without stepping out of the cabin.

What can be printed

  • Vehicle registration number
  • Department, zone or tower colour coding
  • Company or society logo and design
  • Sequential serial numbers with matching barcodes

A common approach is one colour per pass type, such as staff, residents and vendors, so a vehicle in the wrong area stands out before anyone checks the access log.

Made for outdoor glass

The high-tack adhesive is UV-stable for windshields parked in the sun, and tamper-evident, so an attempt to peel the label off leaves visible signs. The IP65 rating means the label is dust-tight and protected against water jets, which matters through the monsoon.

Planning the lane

A 1–5 m read suits lanes where the reader antenna sits close to the vehicle path, such as on the barrier pole. If your lane needs a longer stand-off, compare the IDTS-UWTP printed windshield tag. For the full set-up, see our vehicle RFID guide.

Frequently asked questions

What can be printed on the windshield labels?
The front face takes full-colour digital printing: vehicle registration number, department or zone colour codes, your logo and design, and sequential serial numbers with barcodes.
What read range should I expect at the gate?
1–5 m at gate lanes, depending on reader power and where the antenna is mounted relative to the windshield. Mount the reader antenna close to the vehicle path for consistent reads.
What size are the labels?
110 × 40 mm, the standard windshield format, which leaves room for a printed vehicle number and logo on the face.
What does tamper-evident mean here?
If someone tries to remove the label, it shows visible damage, so a label moved to another vehicle is easy to spot. Plan to issue a new label when a vehicle is replaced.
Will it read through every windshield?
Clear automotive glass is not a problem. Metallised sun-control films and heated-glass areas block UHF signals, so apply the label on a clear section of the windshield.
