125 kHz + 13.56 MHz hybrid dual-frequency ISO cards
The RFID 125 kHz + 13.56 MHz hybrid dual-frequency badges (ISO7816 format) have been designed to facilitate all your access control migrations. Many chip technologies, with or without magnetic stripe, are available: 125 kHz (EM4200, T55X7) + 13.56 MHz (MIFARE® Classic EV1, DESFire® EV1 & EV2).
LF-HF Dual Frequency Use Cases
LF-HF dual cards are ideal for organisations migrating from legacy LF (125 kHz) proximity systems to modern HF (13.56 MHz / Mifare) systems — one card works on both reader types during the transition period. They are also used in environments that require separate reader infrastructure for different security levels: LF for car park barriers (less secure, faster) and HF Mifare for building access (higher security, encrypted). About the DUAL FREQUENCY RFID CARDS LF-HF
Migrating a site from legacy proximity readers to Mifare rarely happens overnight, and the LF-HF dual frequency RFID card is built for exactly that overlap. It is a hybrid dual-frequency badge in ISO7816 card format, carrying a 125 kHz LF chip (EM4200 or T55X7) alongside a 13.56 MHz HF chip (MIFARE Classic EV1, DESFire EV1 and EV2), so one credential is accepted by both reader populations while the changeover runs. Identium supplies this LF-HF combination with or without a magnetic stripe to offices, campuses and plants that would otherwise issue every employee two separate cards and maintain two enrolment databases for months on end.

Best-fit applications
- Phased migration from an installed 125 kHz proximity door system to MIFARE DESFire without reissuing cards twice
- Car park barriers left on the older LF readers while building entrances move to encrypted HF
- Corporate campuses running LF attendance terminals alongside HF cashless canteen and vending
- Factories where shop-floor turnstiles and the admin block sit on different reader generations
- Colleges issuing one student badge for HF library terminals and legacy LF hostel gates
- Multi-tenant buildings where each tenant's access panel is on a different technology
Mounting, encoding and reading notes
The two chips are encoded independently. The 125 kHz side is programmed with the facility and card numbering your panels already expect, while the 13.56 MHz side takes MIFARE sector keys or DESFire application keys before issue, so send both numbering plans together and they will be matched card by card. Cards accept card printing, photo ID and sequential numbering; specify slot-punch position at order time, because punching a finished card can cut an antenna track. Present the card flat to the reader and keep it out of wallets stacked with other proximity cards.
Why buy from Identium
Identium has manufactured RFID in New Delhi since 2010 and is BIS and WPC certified, so Indian buyers get local support and domestic shipping while export customers get cards that suit ETSI markets. Pre-encoding, key handling, artwork printing and numbering are done in house, bulk and OEM volumes are quoted directly, and free samples go out for reader trials. Frequently asked questions
What is an LF-HF dual frequency RFID card?
An LF-HF dual frequency RFID card carries both a 125 kHz low frequency chip and a 13.56 MHz high frequency chip in a single ISO7816 format badge. One card therefore works on both older proximity readers and modern Mifare readers, which is what makes staged access control migrations possible.
Which chips are available in LF-HF dual frequency cards?
LF-HF dual frequency cards are offered with 125 kHz chips such as EM4200 and T55X7 combined with 13.56 MHz chips such as Mifare Classic EV1, DESFire EV1 and DESFire EV2. A magnetic stripe can be included or left off depending on what your system requires.
Why would an organisation in India use dual frequency cards?
Organisations use LF-HF dual frequency cards when migrating from legacy 125 kHz proximity systems to 13.56 MHz Mifare systems, because one card works on both reader types throughout the transition. They also suit sites keeping LF for car park barriers and HF Mifare for encrypted building access.
Can LF-HF dual frequency cards be supplied in bulk in India?
Yes. LF-HF dual frequency cards are supplied in bulk, with the chip combination, magnetic stripe option and printing chosen to match your system. Pricing depends on the chips selected and the quantity, so contact India RFID Store with your reader details for a bulk quote.
