Frequently asked questions
What is an RFID asset tag and what is it used for?
An RFID asset tag is a hard cased UHF tag fixed to assets such as laptops, servers, tools, machinery and furniture so they can be counted and audited without opening cupboards or scanning barcodes one by one. India RFID Store asset tags use UHF 860 to 960 MHz on EPC Gen 2.
Do RFID asset tags work on metal equipment like IT racks?
Standard RFID labels do not read reliably on metal, so on metal variants with a ferrite backing are supplied for IT racks, tools and machinery. These on metal asset tags read normally when mounted directly on metal, while the standard version is used on plastic, wood and painted surfaces.
What is the read range of these UHF asset tags?
RFID asset tags from India RFID Store read at 1 to 6 metres depending on the environment and the reader used, which is enough to walk a handheld reader through an office or server room during an audit. Nearby metal, liquid and dense racking reduce the effective distance.
Can asset tags be printed with a logo, barcode and asset number?
Yes. RFID asset tags can be custom printed with a logo, barcode, QR code and serial or asset number, and pre encoded before dispatch. Mounting options include 3M self adhesive, screw holes and cable tie loops, and the tags are BIS and WPC certified Identium products made in India.
